The Expos 14U Majors took second place in the USSSA Global World Series in Des Moines, Iowa over July 22-25, going 7-1 on the tournament. The Expos started off strong on Thursday's pool play, beating the Omaha Tigers Red 15-1 and the Ankeny Vipers 28-1. Friday the Expos faced two fellow Minnesota teams and came away with two more wins, besting the Minnesota Nice 10-5 and the Minnesota Muskies 23-7 to take the #4 seed in bracket play starting Saturday. In the first game of the bracket, the Expos and Midwest Pride Black were tied 7-7 in the bottom of the 8th inning when Carter Boos laid down a perfect bunt on the third base line and Tanner Ross scored the game-winning run from third to win it 8-7. The Expos moved on to face the #1 seed Wichita Dodgers where they scored five runs in the first inning and seven in the second to put the game away early and finish with a 14-2 win. Carter Boos, River Freeman, Owen Marsolek and Max Berrisford all hit home runs for the Expos and Curran Conrad went 3-3 at the plate. In Sunday morning's semifinal game the Expos once again found themselves facing Midwest Pride Black, this time having an easier go of it as they won 10-0 in five innings, with River Freeman hitting his third home run of the weekend to lead the Expos to the championship game against hometown team Game Ready Prospects Black. Game Ready led off the game with a home run, but the Expos came back with two in the fourth and added one more in the sixth to make it 3-1. In the bottom of the 7th inning, Game Ready walked it off with a 3-run home run to make the final score 4-3 and hand the Expos a second place finish for the tournament. Owen Marsolek pitched six innings for the Expos, scattering three hits, striking out twelve and walking none. The Expos finished a memorable 14U season with a final record of 31-9.
